Overview

Foundation Mechanics installed, tested, and commissioned a new cathodic protection system on the Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency’s (NSMJAWA) water transmission main along the Jane Addams Tollway in Cook County. We also performed select discontinuity repairs to the existing system.

Challenges

There were discrepancies between the ISTHA’s specifications and the NSMJAWA’s expectations regarding the project’s final continuity testing and commissioning.

Solutions

Foundation Mechanics performed full continuity testing of the entire 25-mile-long pipeline as a change order to the initial contract.
