Overview

Foundation Mechanics’ responsibilities on the Reagan Memorial Tollway included pavement removal and the installation of precast pavement slabs containing pre-installed weigh-in-motion sensors. We also performed grading and site restoration services.

Challenges

We faced planning and coordination hurdles regarding crew, trucks, equipment, and precast pavement slab delivery on this project due to the requirement to perform much of the work within 12-hour overnight Saturday lane-closure windows.

Solutions

Foundation Mechanics performed pavement removal, electrical installation, subgrade restoration, 13’x15’ precast pavement slab installation, and grouting operations within the 12-hour weekly lane closures.
