Taft Avenue Earthwork and Drainage

This project included 30,000 CY of excavation, with multiple soil classifications and disposal facilities. Foundation Mechanics also removed utilities, a pipe culvert, and a catch basin. In addition, we jacked and bored a total of 500 LF from O’Hare toward the proposed basin.

We needed to coordinate storm sewer jacking and boring with three other tollway contracts with the Chicago Office of Underground Coordination, the Chicago Department of Aviation, and the project’s design engineering firm.

To lead the design and review of all documentation, Foundation Mechanics lined up multiple cross-agency coordination meetings. We were ultimately able to meet all schedule and quality considerations.
