Veterans Memorial Tollway Weigh-In-Motion Replacement

Foundation Mechanics crews removed and replaced an existing weigh-in-motion system from the Veterans Memorial Tollway near Lockport, Illinois. We designed and tested a high early-strength concrete mix to patch the road after removing the old weigh-in-motion equipment.

We experienced some delays on the job associated with the concrete mix. Coordinating the electrical and sensor components and incorporating them into precast pavement slabs also posed some difficulty.

Foundation Mechanics installed the precast pavement slabs in the winter to avoid further delays on the project. We also successfully navigated limited weekend closure windows that required us to carefully coordinate crews, equipment, and materials.
